About David
I grew up in a community where good jobs, strong unions, and shared prosperity meant families could live with stability and dignity. I’ve watched that change over time, and I don’t think we should accept a system where fewer and fewer people benefit while others fall behind. I believe we have an obligation to take care of each other and to protect the resources we all share.
I’m a Nurse Practitioner, and I’ve spent years caring for patients across Maine, from primary care clinics to in-home visits with seniors. I’ve seen firsthand how hard life can be for people who are doing everything right but still struggling. I’ve sat in living rooms with people trying to get by on Social Security, choosing between which basic need to cover that month. I’ve worked with patients experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders. Seeing all of that has taught me healthcare isn’t just about medicine; it’s about whether someone has stable housing, enough food, and a sense of safety and community.
If we’re serious about helping people live healthy lives, we have to look at the full picture. We need a system that actually works for people, not one that prioritizes profits over people. I’ve seen how much money gets diverted away from patients, and I believe we can do better. We should be using our resources to make sure people get the care they need, when they need it.
I also believe in real fairness. That means protecting people’s rights, making sure everyone is treated with dignity, and standing up for those whose voices aren’t always heard. I know I’ve been fortunate in my own life, and that awareness drives me to make sure others have the same opportunities and protections. I don’t think I have all of the answers, but I want to listen to you, learn what I need to know to be effective, and get to work for you in Augusta.
What Matters Most
Healthcare
As a Nurse Practitioner, I’ve seen how broken our healthcare system can be. People are waiting too long for care, losing continuity with providers, and too often going without what they need. We should be building a system that puts patients first, not profits. I support universal healthcare because no one in Maine should go without coverage. We can lower costs, bring in more federal support, and make sure our healthcare dollars are actually going toward care. We need real solutions to recruit and retain healthcare workers. As a healthcare worker I’ve seen how shortstaffed we are and the impacts it has on everyone. I can bring that experience to the table as we explore and develop ways to recruit and retain healthcare workers throughout the state.
Economic Fairness & Corporate Accountability
I believe that if you’ve been fortunate, you have a responsibility to give back. Right now, too much wealth is concentrated at the top while others struggle. We need an economy that works for everyone. That means the state carrying its weight in the school budget, revamping taxes so working people aren’t being taxed like they’re millionaires, and making sure profit doesn’t come at the cost of people.
Senior Economic Security
I visit seniors in their homes and I see how hard it is for many of them to get by. People who worked their whole lives shouldn’t be struggling to afford basic needs. We owe them better.
Affordable Housing & Cost of Living
People want to live and stay in our communities, but housing is getting harder to find and afford. We need to make sure there are options that working families and seniors can actually access. Too many people are doing everything right and still can’t get ahead. The rising cost of housing, transportation, and everyday expenses is putting real pressure on families, especially in rural areas.
Rural Transportation & Access
In rural Maine, you need a car to get just about anywhere. That adds up fast. When basic services are far away, it makes everyday life more expensive and more difficult.
Workers & Wages
I grew up in a community where good jobs and strong unions supported families. That’s changed, and not for the better. We should be fighting to restore dignity, fair wages, and stability for working people.
